Peanut Butter Toast
Creamy peanut butter spread on crispy toasted bread, a beloved quick meal and breakfast staple across Chinese-speaking regions.
Story
This humble, fuss-free dish is a ubiquitous feature of Hong Kong cha chaan tengs and street food stalls throughout China and Taiwan, prized for its perfect balance of rich, nutty peanut butter and the warm, crisp texture of thick-sliced toasted bread. It’s a go-to pick for a fast, filling breakfast, a late-night snack, or a simple midday pick-me-up, with many regional variations finished with a drizzle of sweet condensed milk for an extra layer of indulgence.
