Rhubarb (cut into small segments)
1 kg
Apple (peeled, cored, cut into thick slices)
3
Flour
120 g
Butter (cut into small cubes, room temperature)
100 g
Brown sugar
100 g (for fruit) + 80 g (for crumble) + 20 g (for greasing)
Ground ginger
1/2 tsp
Salt
1 pinch
Instructions
1
Prepare and Preheat
Preheat the oven to 180°C (level 6). Peel the apples, cut them into quarters, core and remove the seeds, and slice into thick pieces. Combine with the rhubarb segments, brown sugar, and ground ginger in a large bowl and toss to coat.
2
Make the Crumble
In a large bowl, mix the flour, 80 g of the brown sugar, and the salted butter cubes. Add the salt and rub with your fingertips until the mixture forms coarse crumbs.
3
Assemble and Bake
Butter a baking dish and spread out the apple and rhubarb. Scatter the crumble mixture evenly over the top, place in the oven, and bake for about 25 minutes. Serve warm or cold. Spelt flour can be substituted for a nuttier flavor.
