Simple Homemade Pizza

Story

This simple pizza brings the joy of pizza-making right to your home kitchen. Use store-bought flatbread or pizza crust for convenience, or make your own if you're feeling ambitious.

Ingredients

pizza base or flatbread 1 large round
tomato sauce or pizza sauce 4 to 5 tablespoons
shredded mozzarella cheese 1 cup
diced vegetables (bell peppers, onions, mushrooms) 1/2 cup, blanched
diced ham or pepperoni 4 to 6 slices
olive oil 1 teaspoon
dried oregano or Italian herbs a pinch

Instructions

1

Prepare your workspace

Preheat your oven to 395°F (200°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat. Gather all your ingredients and have them ready by your workspace.

2

Build the base

Place the pizza base on a baking sheet or pizza peel. Spread the tomato sauce evenly across the surface, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust.

3

Add the toppings

Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the sauce. Distribute the blanched vegetables and ham pieces evenly across the pizza. Top with the remaining cheese and a light dusting of dried herbs.

4

Bake to perfection

Slide the pizza into the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbling and the crust turns golden brown. Keep an eye on it during the last few minutes.

5

Serve hot

Remove the pizza from the oven and let it rest for 2 minutes. Slice into wedges and serve immediately while the cheese is still stretchy.
