Bacon Cheese Bread
An American-style savory bread filled with bacon, cheese, and pork floss. Best enjoyed warm so you can pull out long, melty cheese strands.
Ingredients
Instructions
Mix the dough
Mix the water and yeast, add the beaten egg, then add the bread flour, sugar, salt, and milk. Stir with chopsticks until a dough forms.
Knead and first rise
Add the butter and keep beating and folding the dough until it becomes elastic. Let it undergo the first rise (use a bread machine and select the "dough" setting).
Fill and shape
After rising, deflate most of the air and let the dough rest for 15 minutes. Divide into 6 portions, flatten each, enclose some shredded cheese (you can use regular individually wrapped sliced cheese from the supermarket, torn apart by hand), then roll from top to bottom into long strips.
Roll and second rise
Use a rolling pin to flatten the long rolls (divide between 2 baking sheets) and let them undergo the second rise. Once risen, brush with egg wash, place bacon on top, and squeeze on some mayonnaise.
Baking
Bake in the oven at 200°C for 20 minutes.
Garnish
Finally, spread a little more mayonnaise and stick on some pork floss. Tear it open and eat while hot — the cheese will stretch!
