Crispy Chicken-Wrapped Banana Fritters

Story

This unique dish combines the savory richness of pounded chicken breast with the natural sweetness of banana. The texture contrast between the juicy filling and the crunchy exterior makes it an irresistible appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Chicken breast fillets 2 large
Bananas (firm) 2
Eggs 1 large
Breadcrumbs 1 cup
Cornstarch 0.5 cup
Salt 1 tsp
Sugar 1 pinch
Cooking wine (optional) 1 tbsp
Shacha sauce or BBQ sauce 1 tbsp

Instructions

1

Prepare the Chicken

Place the chicken breasts between plastic wrap. Using the back of a heavy knife or a meat mallet, pound the meat until it is very thin and wide. Season the flattened chicken with salt, sugar, cooking wine, and Shacha sauce. Let it marinate for a few minutes.

2

Set Up Breading Station

Crack the egg into a shallow bowl and beat well. Spread the cornstarch on one plate and the breadcrumbs on another separate plate. Arrange them in the order: cornstarch, egg, breadcrumbs.

3

Assemble the Rolls

Peel the bananas and cut them in half crosswise. Lay a piece of pounded chicken flat and place a banana segment at one end. Roll the chicken tightly around the banana to enclose it completely. Repeat for remaining pieces.

4

Coat and Fry

Dredge each chicken roll in the cornstarch, shaking off excess. Dip into the beaten egg, then press firmly into the breadcrumbs to coat evenly. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the rolls until they are golden brown and cooked through on all sides.

5

Serve

Remove the rolls from the oil and drain on a wire rack or paper towels. Slice them in half diagonally to reveal the banana center and serve warm.
