Honey Passion Fruit Preserve Preserves

Story

This recipe focuses on hygiene and natural preservation. By thoroughly cleaning the fruit and sterilizing your equipment, you can keep this sweet treat fresh for longer. The balance of tart passion fruit and floral honey creates a versatile topping.

Ingredients

Fresh passion fruit 4 large fruits
Pure honey 3 tablespoons
Salt 1 teaspoon
Water 4 cups (for soaking)

Instructions

1

Clean the Fruit

Rub the surface of the passion fruit thoroughly with salt to remove any dirt or residue. Rinse the fruit, then soak it in a bath of salt water for 30 minutes to ensure it is completely clean. Drain and pat dry.

2

Sterilize Equipment

Prepare a clean work area. Wipe down your knife and cutting board with 75% medical alcohol, or dip them in boiling water, to sterilize them. Ensure the alcohol scent has evaporated or the tools have cooled before handling the fruit. Do the same for your glass storage jar.

3

Extract and Mix

Cut the cleaned passion fruit in half. Scoop out the pulp and seeds into a bowl. Add three tablespoons of honey to the fruit. Stir well until the honey and passion fruit juice are fully combined and smooth.

4

Store the Preserve

Transfer the honeyed passion fruit mixture into your sterilized sealable jar. Close the lid tightly. Keep it refrigerated and use within a week for the best flavor.
