Food coloring to taste
Butter (softened) 1/2 cup
Powdered sugar 3 cup
Milk 1/4 cup
Vanilla extract 1/2 tsp
Almond extract 1/4 tsp
Shortening 1/2 cup

Instructions

1

Bake the cupcakes

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Prepare the cake batter according to the package instructions. Divide the batter into several small bowls, depending on the number of colors desired. Add 3-4 drops of food coloring to each bowl and stir until evenly colored. Pour the colored batter into greased mini muffin tins. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool and set aside.

Make the buttercream frosting

Using an electric mixer, combine the butter and powdered sugar until smooth. Add the milk, vanilla extract, almond extract, and shortening, and beat for 3 to 5 minutes until the frosting reaches a spreadable consistency.

Assemble

Arrange the cupcake layers in push-up pop molds as desired. Pipe a ring of frosting on the top layer for decoration.
