Ingredients

all-purpose flour 1¾ cup
baking soda ¾ tsp
baking powder ¾ tsp
salt ½ tsp
ground cinnamon ½ tsp
ground nutmeg ½ tsp
unsalted butter (softened) ½ pound (2 sticks)
light or dark brown sugar (packed) 1½ cup
granulated sugar ¼ cup
large eggs 2
vanilla extract 2½ tsp
raisins (chopped) 1 cup
old-fashioned rolled oats 3½ cup

Instructions

1

Preheat and Prepare

Position the rack in the upper third of the oven. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Butter the baking sheet. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl until thoroughly combined.

2

Cream the Butter and Sugars

Using medium speed, beat the softened butter until completely smooth. Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar, and continue beating until fluffy. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until well combined.

3

Combine the Dough

Stir the flour mixture into the butter mixture until completely uniform and smooth. Fold in the chopped raisins and oats.

4

Shape and Bake

Using a cookie scoop, drop portions of dough onto the baking sheet about 3 inches apart. Using lightly greased hands, gently flatten each cookie into a ½-inch thick disc. Bake for about 6 to 9 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through for even browning.

5

Cool

Move the baking sheet to a wire rack and let the cookies sit for about 2 minutes until they set slightly. Transfer to the wire rack to cool completely.
