Story

This sweet treat features tender lotus root filled with glutinous rice, slow-cooked until the grains are soft and the slices are rich with caramelized sugar. The final drizzle of osmanthus honey adds a delicate floral aroma, making it a comforting and fragrant dessert.

Ingredients

Lotus root 1 section
Red glutinous rice 1 handful
White glutinous rice 1 handful
Red dates 6 pieces
Rock sugar 2 pieces
Brown sugar 2 tbsp
Osmanthus honey 2 tbsp

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare, soak the glutinous rice 2 hours in advance

Cut the lotus root at one-quarter from the top

Use a spoon to scoop glutinous rice to fill the lotus root holes, gently poke with a bamboo skewer or chopstick, this makes it tighter

After filling, insert toothpicks to secure it, insert several more

Put all ingredients and an appropriate amount of water into the pressure cooker

Bring to a boil over high heat, turn to low heat and cook for about 40 minutes then turn off the heat, let it sit for about 3 hours or overnight, this makes it softer and stickier
