Purple Sweet Potato Coconut Mooncakes
As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, mooncakes remain the traditional treat symbolizing reunion. With countless varieties on offer, store-bought mooncakes can be pricey and may not match your family's taste preferences, while homemade versions typically require an oven. This recipe proves you don't need one: a simple, no-oven method for soft, glutinous, and fragrant mooncakes that stay tender even when cooled and won't leave you feeling overheated, no matter how many you enjoy.

Step 2
Steam 100g of purple sweet potato until cooked, then mash it into a paste.

Step 6
Divide the coconut filling and purple sweet potato dough into small portions separately — about 25g each for the coconut filling, and about 30g each for the purple sweet potato dough.

Brush the mold with a layer of oil in advance, then place the coconut-filled purple sweet potato balls inside and flatten them.
Step 11
Place the molded mooncakes on top of the carrot slices.
Step 12
Place in a pot of boiling water and steam over high heat for about 8 minutes before serving.
